If you want to get stuck straight into a meaty project without the hassle and time of having to strip an existing project, then the Queen Anne wingback chair is a large project that covers many techniques from webbing, building up a seat, sewing piping, shallow buttoning and also an opportunity to paint or wax your own Queen Anne legs. Over 7 days* you will construct the whole piece from bare frame to completion and all you need to bring with you is the fabric. At the end of the 7 days you will walk away with one of these stunning armchairs for your home.

For this project you will require 6 metres of fabric, unless you have chosen a patterned or striped or checked fabric, in which case please contact us for guidance.

I have recently completed my first wing back Armchair and absolutely loved every minute of it, to go from a bare frame to a fantastic piece of furniture in 7 days is amazing and so exciting to see it coming together each day. Anthony and Susie’s expertise and guidance and is what makes this course so special, to learn new skills whilst having fun, and bringing home a chair you can be proud of, what more could you want!

This course is amazing! This was my first ever upholstery course and I feel so proud of what I have produced ( the chair was only ever meant as a personal project, but loads of friends and family now want one). The excellent team at ‘The Ministry of Upholstery’ support you every step of the way, providing detailed and clear instructions. The workshop has a lovely atmosphere, small group sizes give you lots of tutor time and it is great to share ideas with other students. The tutors have high expectations and encourage you to produce the best product you can. I think all students past and present will join me in saying Anthony Devine is a legend ( seriously how do you know so much?!). Overall great experience and can’t wait to complete my next project.
